I advise joining YOUGOV, Global Test Market, ACOP (American Consumer Opinion - worldwide membership despite the name). I am a member and like all of them, especially having been paid for taking surveys, by all of them.

The only bit I do not like at all, is this part of their Terms:
3.3 The member is obliged to claim payment from Research Now via the procedures set out on the website for the amount in their Account within three months of the amount in their Account reaching the level of the Reward. Should the member fail to contact Research Now to claim payment for their Reward within the time specified in this Clause 3.3 the member will not be entitled to receive payment for the reward and Research Now shall clear the member’s Account which will be reset to zero.
3.4 Should the amount in any member’s Account be greater than the level of the Reward at the date on which the introduction of Clause 3.3 above is communicated to the member, the member shall have three months from the date of communication to notify Research Now that they are claiming payment for the Reward. Should the member fail to contact Research Now to claim payment for their Reward within the time specified in this Clause 3.4 the member will not be entitled to receive payment for the reward and Research Now shall clear the member’s Account which will be reset to zero.
Research Now being the owners of Valued Opinions. I guess it is unlikely that you would get near to payment threshold and forget about it, given the amount of surveys you would have done by that time, so perhaps it is not as bad as it looks at first sight!
To join IPSOS or Valued Opinions in the UK, you must be 16 years old or over. This is not useful to 14 year olds or 15 year olds, so see GTM below.
Global Test Market (GTM) is particularly useful for younger teenagers. There are not many ways of legally earning money when only 14 years old or 15 years old, and this is one of the few honest trustworthy ones. You do not have to worry about paypal or the like, as they send a cheque/check in your local currency, or a check in dollars if not.
"You must be at least 18 years of age to join OR you must be 14 to 17 years of age and have parental or legal guardian permission to join." Global Test Market is one of the best, you get points (worth money).
The minimum number of MarketPoints needed to redeem is 1,000 which at 5 cents per MT means $50.
You will earn 20 MarketPoints ($1) every time you refer a friend. Your account is credited as soon as the person you have referred completes an online survey for the first time.
You can refer up to 10 a time using their form and do so as many times as you have friends. Me, I am Johnny No-Mates so I prefer to recruit using the links above (which only pay me 30 cents, not $1, so you are better off joining GTM if you want to earn by recruiting !!!)

I admit I only get about one invitation a year now, partly because I helped recruit so many new members for them that the chance of being picked for a survey is much reduced. I suspended my membership of LightSpeed, a long time ago, as originally I only recall them entering you into prize draws for doing surveys, and it was not worth the time spent on it.
Now they give you points, as well as monthly prizes, so I am rejoining/reactivating my membership. UK only.
(Updated 3 weeks later, to say) Glad I did. as I have already earned enough to request £3 to my PayPal account, and soon to be more. At 110 points for the last survey I did yesterday (writing this 16/5/9) that is only 5 points short of getting the £1 payout amount to PayPal that the site allows. £1=115 points, 115 points=£1.
Updated a week later to say I have requested the £1, and received the £3 in my PayPal account already, no problems.
The site has improved a huge amount from the old days (1 years ago) when I first joined, try it yourself. It is a Quality site, no spam or problems.
Opinion World next, can't be bothered to write about it so look for yourself. It is OK, not brilliant, maybe not waste you time on it?
I am/was a member of Synovate for more years than I can be sure of, yet never remember any surveys from them after the initial joining.
You may have better luck, if so, I hope you win the £2500.
I joined up to Palm Research and it is more correct to say get sent a $1 survey a day that most times you do not stand a chance of qualifying for and reaching the end and getting credited the money, what with "not required profile" and" unexpected error/technical fault". After all, it is Greenfield involved, what should I have expected. I leave it to my visitors to use the Google Search boxes to look up their reputation in the Survey arena.
Having put up with 2 weeks of crap, "we have encountered unexpected technical errors", "sorry (after wasting 5 mins for nothing) you do not qualify for the survey payment", "site suspended - contact the Host urgently", and so on, I have removed their links from this site. In all the 2 weeks I never got another survey that actually paid me anything, over and above the first joining survey that I supposedly got credited $1 for.
Trouble with that is, unless you earn $25 you will never see it, and at the rate I was going I would be dead before reaching $25.
Even as desperate as I am to earn a crust from the Internet, even I would not palm that mob off on my loyal visitors.
Now for another, better, site.
